Panel 2: King places a hand on their knee and goes to stand up. They say, "I SHOULD be able to. I just ate, so my strength should be - "

Panel 3: King tips over with a NOPE.

Panel 4: Wide panel. King leans back, head on the couch, seeing stars as they say, "I cannot."

Vanita leans forward and says, "Then you're staying home."

Panel 2: Wide panel, close up on King. "If I may guess," they say, "...all of his books are burned, aren't they?" Panel 3: Wide panel, close up on Vanita. She pokes two fingers together, looking away while saying, "Not all of them! Just most of them. But the ones that survived are uh..." Panel 4: Wide panel. We see a wide establishing shot of the exterior of a library, with three stories of height and sparsely decorated with trees on the surrounding lawns. Vanita, off-panel, says, "...Rare. So rare that bookstores don't sell reprints."

  • PAGE 93 Panel 1: Wide panel. Under the blanket fort shadow, sitting on the floor in front of the green couch, Vanita and King sit side-by-side. Their dinner plates sit on the couch cushion by their heads, with leftover chicken bones and forks. King, looking thoughtful, recollects as they say, "I recall a drawing on the floor. A seven-pointed star...and seven black candles. One at each point of the star." Panel 2: Wide panel, close up on King looking puzzled. "I don't recall the exact incantation," they say. "...But I remember it had been copied from another book..." Panel 3: Vanita asks, "Do you remember the book?" King raises a finger, face lighting up with recognition. "Not exactly," they say. "I think it was something-or other Incantorum. But I remember the author!"

We hear from inside the apartment, "You mentioned a spell before dinner. One that can send people to the Pit... Panel 3: Wide panel. Closer in on the sliding glass door opening into Vanita's apartment. There's enough of a crack in the curtain for the speech bubble to come through. Vanita asks, "...Do you remember any of it?" Panel 4: Inside the apartment. We see the blanket fort. Under the covering, King says, "Hmm..."
